Syntactic Field Methods

This course will operate in parallel with the phonetics field methods course, using the same language (and same consultant). We will look at the morphology and syntax of the chosen language. In addition to coming up with a basic morpho-syntactic description of the language, we will discuss issues such as archiving data, working with consultants, ethics, and the relation between theory and data. The materials generated in the two field methods courses will be made available on the ALS Google Blog (limited to ALS students, post-doctoral scholars, alumni and faculty).
